Synopsis

The result of the second international photography competition organized by the distinguished Musee de l'Elysee, this book sets out to discover what young photographers are up to as the 21st century approaches its second decade. How do they see the world? How much do they respect, build on or reject tradition? Are they busy in the darkroom or the computer lab - or both? Here, in more than 200 superb images brimming with inspiring creativity and ingenuity, are the answers to these questions. The variety of subjects and techniques confirms that photographers of extraordinary talent are well on their way to making their mark. Useful reference material includes biographical details of each of the eighty featured photographers and a note on the selected winning photographers from the first edition of the book, many of whom have gone on to forge international careers. This is an unmissable opportunity to preview the work of those up-and-coming photographers who may well emerge as the finest artists of their generation.
