Satellite Communications Systems

Satellite Communications Systems

by Gérard Maral (Author), Michel Bousquet (Author)

Synopsis

Over the last two decades, satellite systems have completely changed the pattern of world communications. These systems have developed rapidly from the relatively simple technology of Early Bird to the sophistication and complexity of today's satellites. Here, the authors' approach is practical: they analyze the construction of various types of satellite communications systems, and discuss the interaction of components within these systems as well as the relationship between the system and its environment. The material in this book is the result of long experience in the field of telecommunications, and is based on courses taught at the ENST and ENSAE at the University of Toulouse and elsewhere. The information is presented so that it will appeal to anyone studying telecommunications systems, whether they be students, engineers, designers, or others working in the field. To aid self-study, examples are given throughout the text, there are extensive reference lists at the end of each chapter, and there is a glossary at the end of the book.
