Author Bio
Mark A. Vonderembse is a Professor of Management at The University of Toledo and is currently Interim Director of the University's Intermodal Transportation Institute. He previously served as Chair of the Information Systems and Operations Management Department and Director of the M.S. and Ph.D. programs in Manufacturing Management. He earned a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering from The University of Toledo in 1971 and an MBA from The University of Pennsylvania in 1973. He earned a Ph.D. from The University of Michigan in1979. Dr. Vonderembse won the Research Award in the College of Business Administration in 1997. He has published in academic and professional journals including Decision Sciences, Industrial Engineering Transactions, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Operations Management, and Management Science. His research interests are time-based competition, supply chain management, and manufacturing strategy. Gregory P. White is a Professor in the Department of Management, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and is currently Chair of the Management Department and Director of the MBA Program for the College of Business and Administration. He has previously served as Associate Dean of that College. Before joining Southern Illinois University, Professor White taught at Loyola University of Chicago. Dr. White, who was named researcher of the Year in the College of Business and Administration for 2001, has research interests that include manufacturing performance measurement and operations startegy, and his publications have appeared in journals such as Decision Sciences, Interfaces, International Journal of Operations and Production Management, and Journal of Operations Management. He is an Associate editor of the Journal of Operations Management, and was named Editor of the Year for 2001 by that journal.
