Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics

Fundamentals of Fluid Mechanics

by Bruce R . Munson (Author), Donald F . Young (Author), TheodoreH.Okiishi (Author)

Synopsis

In this text the Bernoulli equation is introduced early with the intention of increasing student enthusiasm for the more complicated material that follows. Each concept is considered in simple circumstances before more complicated features are introduced. The problems are presented in a mixture of SI and US standard units. This text is intended for a one or two term introductory course in fluid mechanics at first, second or third year undergraduate level for degrees in mechanical, civil, chemical and mechanics engineering. It contains a large number of solved examples, a summary sentence on each page to aid comprehension, and a design emphasis and inclusion of lab-type problems. Each example problem is completely solved using a problem statement, detailed solution and often giving a brief discussion of related principles from real-life situations. The text includes lab-type problems with experimental data giving a feel for the fluids lab, and includes several open-ended problems that require critical-thinking skills.
