On the Run: A Mafia Childhood

On the Run: A Mafia Childhood

by Gina Hill (Author), Gregg Hill (Author)

Synopsis

The story takes us through Gregg and Gina's early years as they visit their father in prison and rub up against Mafia culture in ways both terrifying and poignant. In 1980, a daylight raid on the Hill home cuts the family loose from its already shaky moorings. Facing decades in prison for, among other things, his involvement in the infamous Lufthansa hijacking, Hill becomes a witness for the state and, immediately, a wall of protection seals off Gregg and Gina from their previous lives.Nomadic now, wandering from community to community, constructing new identities and making new friends only to have those identities compromised and those friends cast aside, Gregg and Gina desperately seek normalcy but are continually thwarted. Making their lives even more difficult - indeed, putting their lives in peril - is their father, whose scams continue even after his being absorbed into 'the Programme' and whose capacity for violence remains dangerously high.
