A.D.A.M. (Animated Dissection of Anatomy for Medicine) is a highly interactive multimedia software package of human anatomy. Integrating detailed graphics with intuitive operation, A.D.A.M. enhances the knowledge and communications capability of students and professionals worldwide. Because of advanced compression techniques, both male and female anatomy is available on one CD, with versions for Apple Macintosh or Microsoft Windows. A.D.A.M. is made up of a core program - A.D.A.M. Colour Image Foundation (Entire human body - male and female anatommy) - with optional modular extensions: A.D.A.M. Studio; A.D.A.M. Electronic Libraries - orthopaedics, obstetrics & gynaecology, trauma. Churchill Livingstone also provides a Support and Update Programme - includes phone/fax support, tutorials, upgrades to programs and content for each module licensed and discounts on future upgrades to such modules. In addition to the animated surgeries, electronic books contain pathologies and devices. The pathologies are various ulcers, cysts, tumours, etc which can be placed on parts of the body to produce a realistic presentation of that condition. Many of these pathologies come in a progressive state; for example when one clicks the mouse on an ulcer, it ulcerates over a short period of time to show the progression of that condition. In the devices section there are screws, compression plates, staples etc so that one can illustrate a wide range of procedures for students and patients. A.D.A.M. is used by hospitals, universities, healthcare professionals and for undergraduate teaching, staff training and patient education.
