by PaulWade (Author), Michael Youle (Author), JanetClarbour (Author), Charles Farthing (Author)

Synopsis

This manual of therapeutics has the sole intention of providing health care personnel working with HIV/AIDS patients with practical clinical information on the use and availability of therapies. The work begins with an outline of the history of HIV disease, the HIV antibody test and the control of infection. The following chapters, arranged on a system-by-system basis, have a short introduction discussing the spectrum of illnesses found in that particular body system. Clinical features and methods of diagnosis of each condition are then discussed, and finally the available treatments, including those of an unusual and experimental nature, are examined. The book is aimed primarily at clinicians managing HIV/AIDS patients, namely trainee and practising STD physicians, haematologists, chest physicians and immunologists. It is also intended to be of interest to other clinicians, GPs, nurses and pharmacists.
