  This is an alphabetical list of commonly used drugs that emphasizes what nurses need to know and understand about drug presentation, action, usage and dosage. It notes recent changes and developments and has been updated with the addition of new drugs and the omission of others now less commonly used. There is a consistent use of headings for each drug given so that familiarity can be gained with the layout. There are two indices of drugs, by proprietary name and by pharmaceutical name and the apendices include metric weight and other measures. Legal requirements for security and administration are covered and special points for nurse monitoring are included.
