100 MATHS HOMEWORK ACTIVITIES is a series of six photocopiable teachers' resource books designed as a 'spin-off' from the '100 Maths Lessons' series. Each book focuses on the '100 lessons' to provide follow-up or supporting homework activities, together with teachers' notes advising on: the objective of the work, the classroom lesson context to which it is appropriate ( for teachers using the book as a stand-alone resource), setting the homework and what to do with it when the children bring it back, including marking if necessary. The activities cover the range of homework types suggested by the NNS and address all the strands of the 'Framework for Teaching Mathematics': Number and the number system, Calculations, Problem-solving, Handling data and Shape, space and measures. In terms of parental support, each photocopiable page will include a note to the parent about the purpose of the activity and how to help the child if he/she gets stuck. The introduction will discus establishing dialogue with parents. Year 6 focuses on extending the children's skills into more complex investigations and calculations, and encouraging more independent working. Therefore, the number of shared maths activities is considerably reduced. This also reflects the fact that by Y6/P7, the maths may be beyond the capability of some adults, although their interest is encouraged. * Homework recommended and modelled by the NNS - approach and content 'approved' * Covers all types of homework recommended and all strands of NNS, including handling data and spatial concepts * Linked to 100 main lessons of the highly successful '100 Maths Lessons'(but will stand alone) - a ready market * Encourages parental involvement by providing parental support.
