Newnes Microprocessor Pocket Book

Newnes Microprocessor Pocket Book

by SteveA.Money (Author)

Synopsis

This pocket reference book is mainly aimed at microprocessor users who are incorporating microprocessors into other projects. It covers the popular processors (types such as 6502, Z80 and 6809) the single chip computers and some of the newer developments such as transputers and PISC chips. Peripheral chips for the popular microprocessors are covered in detail and include analogue input-output devices. On programming, the main part deals with assembly code and some of the languages, such as C and FORTH, which are likely to be used in engineering applications of processors. For small projects the microcomputer may be assembled from individual chips or could use one of the ready-made microcomputer boards such as those designed to work on the STD or STE bus systems. In many cases a popular personal computer such as an IBM PC might be used to provide the computing power and would then be interfaced to the other hardware of the overall project. This is particularly true where the computer is used for instrumentation or control purposes.
