'Understanding Anaesthesia' has become firmly established as the introductory account of the principles and practice of anaesthesia for postgraduate nurses, ODAs and medical students. The third edition will reaffirm its position as the most comprehensive and easy to follow practical and theoretical manual available in this area. The authors have been rigorous in their revision of the text and the book has been extensively updated to take account of recent changes in pharmacology, equipment and techniques, whilst retaining the outstanding qualities of the previous editions, which were acclaimed by reviewers, students and trainees alike. Separate chapters describe anaesthesia for particular surgical specialties, including a new chapter on anaesthesia for day care surgery. These chapters emphasise the considerable changes that have taken place in the area of anaesthetic pharmacology, taking into account new developments in inhalation and intravenous agents. 'Understanding Anaesthesia' remains the most authoritative, readable introduction to the practice of anaesthesia for all those studying or embarking upon a career in the specialty.
