This book reports the outcome of an opportunity 2000 conference at Lancaster and describes the issues for women managers in today's working environment. It is written by a number of researchers and educators who, through the multiple voices of the women managers they have taught or researched, communicate the experience of being a woman manager. At one level, the book can be read as a collaborative account of a woman's career from entering a management position up until her decision to leave. Promotion, the issues she will address, and emotion are all issues examined within individual chapters. At another level, this is a volume of academic research, attempting to explain the phenomenon of women in management and why their education must be addressed in different ways.
