  The theory of adult education has been developed in the 20th century by a number of philosophers. This book reviews 13 major figures, and demonstrates their contributions to the field. Beginning with a general section on the development of adult educational knowledge, the following chapters explore the ideas of such thinkers as Paulo Freire, John Dewey, Ettore Gelpi and Malcolm S.Knowles.
