  The general aim of this book is to describe the basic theory and practice of occupational therapy in psychiatry. More specifically, the author attempts to analyse the occupational therapy process, provide a guide to and model for practice, and stimulate discussion on a range of issues related to occupational therapy and mental health. The approach shows occupational therapy as a problem-solving process. Treatment is applied to a wide range of patients and psychiatric settings - acute admissions wards, children's wards, children's units, long-stay units, community etc. A case study form of presentation is used to illustrate specific treatments and practical application.
