  The Working for Patients (1988) series of Government White Papers have emphasized the need for information as a basis for the delivery of health care. Much of the information is provided by nurses and other health science disciplines. Information technology has developed so quickly that many people have not had the opportunity to turn the key that provides the power to having control of information. For some the learning curve may seem too daunting to attempt the ascent.
