Occupational Health Practice

Occupational Health Practice

by H.A.Waldron (Editor)

Synopsis

Since the first edition of this book, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 promised to bring a new era of occupational health practice by simplifying legislation and making clear the responsibility which all employers had towards their staff. The editor notes that some progress has been made, with increasingly good control of toxic hazards and greater stress laid on the promotion of health, but she still sees room for much improvement. Aiming to be of use to those actively engaged in occupational health practice wherever they may be, this study attempts to cover all aspects, from pre-employment screening, to the problems which may arise from the complex interaction between work and health. It also suggests how the occupational health professional should deal with perturbations in the health of the worker and the workplace.
