Like many young children, Jacob O'Reilly wants a pet. He'd love a dog. A cat would be great. Ooh, what about gerbils? Or an iguana? He's desperate for an animal to look after, but mum and dad don't fancy the idea. Then they suggest that he start a pet-sitting business, and all hell breaks loose...

Book Overview: Jacob O' Reilly is desperate for a pet. Can he persuade mum and dad to let him have one? Illustrated by the winner of the Red House Children's Book Award.
Lynne Rickards was born in Canada and now lives in Scotland with her husband and two children. She grew up writing and illustrating her own stories and actually went to art school at 18 to study illustration. However, she decided she was much happier writing the stories and loves to see artwork in her books, knowing it`s so much better than anything she could ever have done.
Lee Wildish is an acclaimed illustrator. His Spooky, Spooky House won the Overall Red House Children's Book Award in 2013, his Spaghetti with the Yeti was shortlisted for the Roald Dahl Funny Book Prize in 2013, and he has been shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award and the Sheffield Children's Book Award.
