But, arriving at the House of the Ravens, she finds her mother captive, and she herself no more than a pawn in a terrifying game of blackmail. Terrified, Dina escapes. But she is pitted against an implacable enemy: Drakan and his army of dragons...

Media Reviews
This novel stands on its own and offers a satisfying conclusion even as it provides and intriguing setting and mythology for future adventures * Publishers Weekly *
Full of passion * The Guardian *
A riveting story of trial and escape, danger and death ... The term page turner is often used but not always justified. It is deserved here, tenfold. I really, really couldn't put it down * School Librarian *
the most original new fiction of this kind ... equally appealing to boys. Here be dragons, sorcery and battles, but Kaaberbol's thrilling and thoughtful series is really about perceiving the limitations and deceits of adulthood. * The Times *
[A] fine novel ... The term 'page-turner' is often used but not always justified. It is deserved here, tenfold. I really, really couldn't put the book down. * The School Librarian *
Full of passion * Julia Eccleshare, The Guardian *
