Geraldine has been awarded many prizes for her writing, including the Whitbread Children's Book Award, the Library Association Carnegie Medal, the Guardian Award and the Blue Peter Book Award. Geraldine has also published a number of retellings of traditional stories. Geraldine has a young daughter. A Pilgrim's Progress is the Winner of the Blue Peter Book Award.

Illustrator: Jason Cockcroft is a talented illustrator of children's books. He has collaborated with many established authors such as Helen Cresswell and Geraldine McCaughrean, illustrating Sophie and the Seawolf and Never Let Go respectively.
