The Affair

by SantaMontefiore (Author)

Synopsis

Would you risk everything for love? Bestselling children's book writer Angelica is amused and flattered at the attention of Jack, the owner of a vineyard in South Africa, whom she meets at a dinner party. With his easy charm and reputation as a ladies' man, Jack makes her feel good about herself -- surely it can't do any harm to indulge in a mild email flirtation? After all, she wouldn't risk her stable marriage and the happiness of her children. But things don't stop there, and when Angelica is sent to Cape Town for a book tour, the affair begins in earnest. On their last day together, Jack confesses that he has an incurable disease: being with Angelica has enabled him to forget his mortality. Shocked and heartbroken, she returns to London determined to save her marriage and put to good use all the emotional lessons she learnt during their brief time together.

Media Reviews
'Bittersweet and thought-provoking, THE AFFAIR is ... brilliantly written and surprisingly sophisticated.' -- News of the World 'The writing begins to sing. Landscapes are this author's forte and her descriptions of the jasmine-scented air at Jack's vineyard outside Cape Town are accomplished and poetic.' -- Daily Telegraph 'Santa Montefiore is a marvel at descriptive writing and the two milieus she establishes, the grand drawing rooms of rich London filled with designer-clad women and the lush South African veldt, have you drooling.' -- Sunday Express 'A beautifully written tale of temptation that perfectly captures the intoxicating danger and emotional angst of forbidden love' -- Daily Record 'A funny, riveting read and a refreshingly honest look at love.' -- Image (Ireland) 'Be whisked away from humdrum life to a world of risk and romance' -- Candis
