Media Reviews

It is a wonderful thing ewhen you come across a book that is a pleasure to read aloud. The children see how much enjoyment there is in getting one's lips around the words and they respond even more to the experience.

Bearum Scarum certainly fits the bill. Ten hunters are off to catch a bear, but bear's friends are one step ahead with a clever plan. The hunters disappear one by one providing valuable counting back experience.

Vic Parker's text has a lively peac with some imaginative rhyme, and a repeated SSSHHH! for the children to join in with. There is also a wide range of animals in this story which help children to learn the animal names. The animals are depicted as clever and cuddly, and their tactics for removing the hunters will amuse any child.

Emily Bolam's illustrations are humorous and attractive, making this a good book for all the foundation stage. And best of all, it is great fun to read aloud. A treat for adults and children alike.
