Own Goals

Own Goals

by PhilAndrews (Author)

Synopsis

When City's star Italian footballer is had up for sexual assault by a glamorous model, the media has a field day. The Northern Premiership club secretary thinks they've been framed and employs Steve Strong to investigate. As a film noir buff with a tenuous connection to the model, Strong is hardly qualified for the job of PI. And as he checks out the behind-the-stadium-scenes, he soon discovers that there's something far more sinister afoot than a sex scandal. But can he avoid a permanent transfer before the whistle blows? Set in a gritty Yorkshire city, Own Goals offers an insider's view of big time soccer, its players and directors, and the seedy side of a modern British city, its clubs, pubs, good-time girls and shady businessmen.
