Clinical Biostatistics Intro To Evidence - Based Medicine: An Introduction to Evidence-based Medicine

by Graham Dunn (Author), Graham Dunn (Author), Professor Brian Everitt (Author)

Synopsis

A biostatistics text which is also motivated by clinical problems. It is written in reponse to the increasing number of medical schools moving over to a problem-based curriculum in which clinical skills and basic science are learnt in an integrated manner. It concentrates on influencing the student's attitudes towards the use of evidence and, in particular, the appropriate and valid use of statistical inference in clinical medicine. In addition, students will acquire analytical skills for use in their own project work and for the clinical appraisal of the work of others. The text makes no assumptions about any prior statistical knowledge or expertise in medicine and the technical discussion of any clinical problems is kept at a level readily understood by the novice.
