Gaby Halberstam was born in a small mining town in South Africa in the 1960's. From there her family moved to Durban, a city on the east coast, and subsequently to Port Elizabeth, on the south-east coast. They moved to England when Gaby was fifteen. She now lives in London with her husband and three children.
