Author Bio
Valerie Bloom was born in Clarendon, Jamaica and came to England in 1979. She has performed her poetry extensively throughout Britain and the Caribbean in schools, universities, theatres and at festivals such as Edinburgh and Cheltenham. Her poems have been included in Poems on the Underground and in the NEAB 1998 GCSE English Literature Anthology. We published her Selected Poems for Children, Let Me Touch the Sky, in 2000 and a new collection, Whoop an' Shout, in 2003. Her terrific first novel, Surprising Joy, was published by Macmillan Children's Books in August 2003.
