  This is an examination of Russia's political institutions and processes in the post-1991 period when it became formally independent. The book explores the old political system in relation to the Russian system that has since emerged. The text aims to provide a clear overview of the change in the political institutions from the old communist, Soviet regime, through the transitional period in the early 1990s, to 1997, when Russia had a fully post-communist institution.
