Synopsis

Most people have heard of Beaujolais and have a rough idea of the kind of wine it is, but how many know that a tiny percentage of Beaujolais production is white, or that Entre Deux Mers is so named because its vineyards are located between two tidal rivers, not seas? In this comprehensive guide to French wine, each appellation covers one or two pages in a simple and clear presentation. Colour, appearance, taste, nose, grape varieties and soil - the essential information - is given for each, as well as recommended food pairings, production volume and serving temperatures.
