Book Overview: The Kings and Queens of England is a richly informative guide to England's royal heritage, offering authoritative biographies of every one of the 40 monarchs to sit on the throne of England since 1066. Covering over nine hundred years of English history from the Normans to the Windsors, it tells an epic tale of invasion, usurpation, war, peace, revolution and the building and dismantling of an empire. The biographies are written by a team of distinguished period experts (including John Gillingham on the Norman kings, John Clarke on the House of Hanover and Andrew Roberts on the Windsors), and introduced and edited by the acclaimed historian Antonia Fraser.
