  In recent years there has been growth in international tourism, particularly in air travel. This has been reflected in a profusion of activity in the aeromedical transportation of patients. Pre-hospital medical care has also developed rapidly, with helicopters in use with many of the emergency services. This work addresses relevant issues of the special physical, physiological and psychological stresses that are important in the flight environment.
