Third world governments are massively in debt to Northern banks, and are labouring under new economic and trade regimes, forced on them as conditions for debt-rescheduling. As the movement for the cancellation of Third World debt gains popularity, Northcott offers a specifically Christian understanding of abundance and Justice. He points towards the reforms which are needed to give the poor greater control over their lives.
