Media Reviews
.....Philip does a great job of making things clear. The book covers the basics first and then guides you through more advanced stages as it progresses. The design and signposting is much better in this version. Like the earlier version processes such as sharpening and image contrast and saturation are covered in depth to help you understand what the sliding controls are actually doing to your picture. You'll learn how to edit, save for web, prepare images for printing and much more.
ePhotozine

Now in its second incarnation, this book is a complete guide that covers both versions of Elements more than adequately.

The Presentation is second to none. Full-colour images and screenshots grace each page as the author moves from basic principles to more advanced features over 12 chapters.

If you need to manipulate digital images but can't justify the cost or time to learn Elements' big brother, this is the book that will not only show you what can be achieved but inspire you to develop your skills even further.
Computer Arts Special

...an unrivalled introduction to the budget imaging package, and an excellent overview of digital imaging.
What Digital Camera

'Philip Andrews has done it again.
Just when you think you know all about the subject, he comes along with this amazing book.
This is NOT a Dummies book - it's much, much better!
There are CLEAR instructions, in COLOUR - all IMAGES are colour, printed on quality paper.
You could go from BASIC to ADVANCED - a teacher's or a student's textbook.
There are clear instructions and samples - so you can't put a foot wrong.'

Reviews of previous edition:

'Andrews' style is extremely visual, and every main point is illustrated, rather than just described...and the book often goes further than just the programme itself... The book will prove of real value to anyone starting down the digital imaging path.'
Nikon Light Reading

'... this is an easy to follow and highly informative digital imaging handbook specifically designed for users of Adobe's latest photo editing software, Photoshop Elements. Andrews' style suits entry level users as it is beautifully and well-illustrated with quality photography and non-threatening text.'
Better Digital

'Although I am not a complete beginner in photo manipulation I am new to Elements. I chose this book to start my exploration of Elements and I am very glad that I did. It explained things very simply and I had no difficulty getting to grips with Elements at all. I still have a lot to learn, but that aside I would heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in digital photography.'

'Philip Andrews is a skilled and enthusiastic teacher, his book is clearly illustrated throughout and is refreshingly direct and easy to understand.'
Martin Evening

'Philip Andrews' book is, like the program itself, full of features you don't find in many more expensive models. There are so many books on digital imaging these days that it is a pleasure to come across one where the trinity of author knowledge, ample meaningful illustration and facility of communication to the reader is so readily achieved.'
Amateur Photographer

'This is a great book for Photoshop beginners. The language is very clear and the practice exercises give the reader the opportunity to actually use the tools as they move along. It also gives excellent descriptions (and identification) of all the available tools in Photoshop. I have several books on this subject, but none is as clear as this one. It has made all the difference as I am learning how to use the software. It is a MUST for beginners!'

'[Philip Andrew's] Adobe Photoshop Elements title is an excellent read, many colourful photographic examples and true to life screenshots replicate working within the software. Beginner or advanced the book is great value for money and I for one highly recommend it.'

'This book should be in everyone's library. I purchased A Visual Introduction to Digital Imaging, BEFORE purchasing Elements. I wasn't sure if Elements was easy enough for me. The book is so clear and understanding. The quality of the pages are also great. Not some inexpensive paper. I also like the online tutorials. I feel that anyone who is considering purchasing this book, will not be disappointed.'
