Tutankhamun: The Life of the Boy King (Treasures and Experiences Series)

by JaromirMalek (Author)

Synopsis

With background chapters on the development of Egyptology and the long and enduring interest in it, Tutankhamun looks in detail at the background of the boy king, the lead up to the discovery of his tomb; the examination of it chamber by chamber and the priceless artefacts that were found within it. It offers an insight into the people who played a crucial part in the excavation and shows how the world worked itself into a frenzy of desire for all things Egyptian. The book is augmented by the inclusion of 15 facsimile documents. The documents include: extracts from Howard Carter's diary; photographs taken by Harry Burton at the time of the excavation; Carter's own map of the tomb; and, original drawings by Carter of the mummy and the jewellery that adorned it.
