Book Overview: Not only a meditation on Proust, this is a commentary on how the experience of literature is manifested in time and sensation. Kristeva uses Proust as a starting point to reflect upon broader notions of character, time, sensation, metaphor, and history.

Media Reviews
Kristeva as always brings a resourceful and sophisticated theoretical awareness to her interpretive work. By translating much of Prousts post-symbolic discourse on literature into her own psychoanalytic idiom, she invites us to reread him with an innocence and an enthusiasm that today, in this age of suspicion we call our own, are becoming rare.
