  Klasse! 1 is the first stage of a three-part German course, catering for a wide range of abilities. It is fully in line with the Neue Rechtschreibung and comes complete with a Euro pack (including updated Student's Book, Workbook and Repromaster pages, and cassette recordings), making the transition to the Euro in 2002 as straightforward as possible. A software package (Klasse! Informatik), available from Camsoft, provides an integrated IT component that enables students to practise and improve their German while using the computer. The Students' Book has nine topic-based units designed for maximum clarity and ease of use, working in two-page spreads that give clear objectives for students. Four teenagers from the German town of Wesel provide a meaningful context for the presentation of key language. New skills, grammar, and vocabulary are carefully phased in and recycled in later units. Extra! activities and pages provide extension work on each topic, enabling higher attainers to develop their individual potential.
