Synopsis

The text of this volume represents an evaluation of the likely import of completing the internal market in 1992. It is based on a European Commission research project led by Mr Paolo Cecchini which investigated a number of industrial sectors and produced forecasts of the effect of eliminating all remaining barriers to the free movement of goods, services, capital and labour. Both micro and macro economic analysis are applied to estimate that the potential benefits to the Economic Community could be as much as 4.5% to 7% of Gross Domestic Product.
