by TiseVahimagi (Editor)

Synopsis

This is a thoroughly revised and extended edition of an illustrated guide to British television from 1936 to the present day. Detailed entries on more than 1200 programmes are arranged chronologically to present an easy-to-use reference guide to Britain's TV heritage. This new edition updates and extends the early coverage with new entries including "Trumpton", "The Spoils of War" and "Captain Pugwash". There are over 60 new entries from the 1990s including such programmes as "The Camomile Lawn", "Cracker" and "Middlemarch". Each entry is accompanied by a production still, many of them previously unpublished and some the sole remaining visual record of the programme.

Media Reviews
This is a book which has something for everyone: for the serious it has the facts, for the politicians it demonstrates consequences, for the programme makers it shows the trends, and for any reader it is a nostalgic record which can be read through or dipped into occasionally--but kept readily at
hand. --Film
