Oleg Polunin, who died in 1985, is renowned world-wide for his work as a botanist and plant photographer, and for his remarkable series of field guides to the flora of Europe and of the Himalayas. Bryan Smythies has travelled widely in the Iberian Peninsula, and is author of a number of other natural history books .
