Synopsis

Ever-optimistic Platypus sets out to fly his kite, to paint and more, but nothing goes right. He decides to go back to bed and finds comfort in a forgotten banana he discovers under his pillow, and Bruce, his cuddly toy. Later, when it stops raining, he takes his go-cart for a ride and bumps into a tree, dislodging his kite, lost in the tree at the start of the story. Now the world looks a better place for Platypus!

Chris Riddell was a student of Raymond Briggs at Brighton. He now works in many areas of illustration, including political cartoons for The Observer. He has illustrated many children's books, texts by other writers as well as his own. SOMETHING ELSE (by Kathryn Cave), won the 1997 UNESCO Prize and was shortlisted for the Greenaway Medal and the Smarties Prize. CASTLE DIARY (by Richard Platt), was shortlisted for the Greenaway Medal in 2000. Chris lives in Brighton.
