He analyzes the British education system and finds an emphasis on academic rather than practical skills, which he feels has contributed to the economic decline of a once-great nation. He draws on his naval experiences to investigate the modern armed forces and their role in society following the end of the Cold War. And finally he looks at industry as a whole, and asks questions about the economic future and Britain's place in the new world order.
