Economics for Business

Economics for Business

by Mcaleese (Author)

Synopsis

This book is written to provide a concise, comprehensive and yet accessible introduction to economics to accompany Business module courses. It is designed as a self-contained unit and no previous background in economics is assumed. Unlike many texts aimed at the business student, Economics for Business strikes a balance between coverage of macroeconomic and microeconomic issues in both a domestic and a global environment. Economic policies throughout the world are converging aound three basic principles; First, there is increasing emphasis on using market mechanisms to acheive objctives rather than supplanting them with state intervention; secondly, macroeconomic policy is now given the task of ensuring a stable economic framework rather than acheiving pro-active counter cyclcal targets or national plan growth rates and investment targets; and thirdly, national policies have become more outward looking. Today's business student needs to understand the motivation of this new policy framework for global economics and income distribution. This text provides the necessary framework for students to understand the nature and implementations of thses convergent economic policies.
