Book Overview:

Sun's JavaServer (TM)TM Pages technology gives developers a powerful cross-platform solution for dynamic Web application development with none of the drawbacks of previous approaches. In Core JSP, two leading enterprise developers show experienced developers exactly how to make the most of JSP technology -- for database integration, XML applications, session tracking, and many other purposes. Like every Core Series book, Core JavaServer Pages demonstrates how to write commercial quality code, presents extensive, industrial-strength code samples, and focuses on the features and functions most important to real developers. From coding fundamentals to effective program design and optimization, you'll find it here -- along with real-world sample code for HTML calendars, JNDI applications, LDAP-based authentication JavaBeans, database search forms, and more. Damon Hougland and Aaron Tavistock show how to make the most of scriptlets, expressions, declarations, actions, directives, requests and responses. They take you under the hood with Sun's JSP engine to master multithreading, persistence, and implicit objects; demonstrate every option for tracking sessions and data; present in-depth coverage of database integration; even show how to create custom JSP actions (custom tags).
