Ridding the Devils

Ridding the Devils

by Frank Palmos (Author)

Synopsis

During the Tet offensive in Vietnam in 1968, war correspondent Frank Palmos and four other colleagues were ambushed in Saigon by a squad of Viet Cong. His four colleagues were killed; but by playing dead Palmos alone survived. These killings of unarmed civilians attracted worldwide publicity. 20 years later, the new government of Vietnam invited Palmos back to Saigon\Ho Chi Minh City, as a conciliatory gesture. This is his account of the efforts to find survivors of that ambush squad. As the search goes on, Palmos returns to old haunts, talks to veterans of both sides and relates the story, not only of their horrendous psychological problems, but of his own attempts to come to terms with his experience.
