Sailors' Secrets: Advice from the Masters

Sailors' Secrets: Advice from the Masters

by RobbyRobinson (Author), Mike Badham (Author)

Synopsis

With pithy, often iconoclastic advice on all aspects of seamanship and boat maintenance, Badham and Robinson have distilled in this book the seagoing experience of hundreds of the world's sailing experts. The result is the nautical equivalent of an experts' forum, including instructive and sometimes humorous and sometimes biting advice on: boat maintenance; understanding weather; safety at sea and storm strategies; gear and outfitting; sailing well; piloting; engine troubleshooting; and, simple solutions to complex problems. From Meade Gougeon on maintaing your boat to Buddy Melges on sailing it well, Walter Greene on taking it to sea, and Steve Callahan on coming home again, the insights shared here were developed over millions of sea miles.

Author Bio
Michael Badham is a former British Royal Navy submarine commander and Caribbean charterboat owner and skipper. In 1960, with his wife and children, he set sail for Australia but, like Columbus, fetched up on America, where he has dallied ever since. Robby Robinson has been on the water for 50 years. He has sailed with and raced against many of the experts in this book. A former editor of SAIL magazine, he has cruised worldwide and lived aboard his sailboat with his wife and two children.
