by Geoff Birtles (Author), Geoff Birtles (Author)
Alan Rouse perished on the summit of K2 in August 1986 along with Julie Tullis and three other climbers after the first successful British ascent of the mountain. This book pays tribute to his life and achievements, with comments from mountaineers such as Chris Bonington, Doug Scott, Paul Nunn and Greg Child. All royalties from this book will be donated to a trust that has been set up in Sheffield for the establishment of the Alan Rouse Memorial Library, a mountaineering archive. Geoff Birtles is the editor of "High", the official journal of the British Mountaineering Council, and was a personal friend of Alan Rouse with whom he climbed on many occasions.
