Assessing Receptive Vocabulary Age 6–7 (Collins Tests & Assessment)

Assessing Receptive Vocabulary Age 6–7 (Collins Tests & Assessment)

by Clare Dowdall (Author)

Synopsis

Close the word gap in the early years by assessing your children's receptive (heard) vocabulary every half term in Year 2 with this illustrated, topic based assessment.

Based on topics inspired by the National Curriculum subject areas and evidence from the Collins Big Cat Corpus, there are 30 illustrated vocab lists with 8-10 words per topic to use in your classroom and to send home.

Six half termly tests assess receptive vocabulary across the range of topics within the year. Each test has fifteen questions and children select the correct picture to go with the word you say.

You are checking for recognition and understanding of the key vocabulary and record progress on a record sheet.

It can be used throughout the year to ensure all children have a rich, relevant vocabulary that will support their learning.

Photocopiable with a free editable download, you can adapt the tests for your school.
