The Fake Sheik, a.k.a. Mazher Mahmood, is an award-winning investigative journalist who was born in Birmingham in 1963. His parents were both journalists from Pakistan who settled in Britain in 1960. Maz has worked for the Sunday People, The Sunday Times and TV-AM, where he was a producer on the David Frost programme for three years. He joined the News of the World in 1991. Since then he has exposed endless paedophiles, drug dealers, arms dealers, immigration rackets, corrupt politicians, errant Royals and celebrities. Dodgy doctors, solicitors, pimps, judges, bent cops and even murderers have fallen prey to his classic stings.
