Church Cats

Church Cats

by Richard Surman (Author), Peter Arscott (Illustrator)

Synopsis

Newly released in stylish hardback to accompany the popular Cathedral Cats and new Cloister Cats. Church Cats is a beautifully presented glimpse into the lives of cats with real character and the churches and communities they live in. This full colour photographic gift book gives engaging and amusing glimpse into churches and their feline residents. Some cats join in church life with gusto: fascinated by the burials at the church of St Peter and St Paul, Pickering, church cat Pushkin has been known to get into very deep trouble. Meanwhile, Boni introduced himself to the new vicar of St John's, Brecon by quite literally dropping in on a wedding, falling from a tree onto the arriving bride. Others seem less aware of their ecclesiastical surroundings; with numerous incidents of theft, antisocial behaviour and dog harassment throughout the country. Here too are the stories of Amy, the toothless agoraphobic from Selby who now shares a stable with the church donkey; and Korky, the tree-dwelling stray who has earned her own seat at the vicarage table. From sulky West Ham fans to opera connoisseurs, Richard's camera has captured an endearing array of church cats.
