by TheSocietyofBotanicalArtists (Author)
This superbly illustrated book looks at one of the most important aspects of botanical painting: how to achieve the right colours.
Each chapter looks at a specific colour, providing expert advice on how to achieve the right colour in both painting and coloured pencil work. The detailed step-by-step demonstrations reveal exactly how each flower painting is built up, from the first stage to the finished illustration.
A special of this book is the projects that are included in several of the demonstrations. Each project includes a simplified drawing of the finished work that students can trace and use as the basis for their own painting. By attempting a more modest painting in this way, they will be able to focus more closely on achieving accurate colour portrayal.
The book is superbly illustrated throughout with beautiful botanical paintings, and a gallery of paintings by member os the Society completes the book and provides additional inspiration.
