Collins Wild Guide - British Wildlife

by Various (Author)

Synopsis

An introductory guide to 500 of the most common birds, wild flowers, trees, insects, mammals, fish, reptiles and amphibians that share the British Isles with us

This pocket-sized guide is a perfect companion for any budding naturalist, helping you to identify what you see and learn more about it. Each page is devoted to a different species and, as well as a detailed description and a full-colour photograph, there is an identification fact file for easy, at-a-glance reference.

* ID Fact file lists all the information needed for quick and easy identification, including a list of similar species to avoid confusion

* A calendar grid gives a month-by-month guide to when you can expect to come across that species

* Symbols on each page provide a quick visual clue to the species featured on the page, and help with identification and cross referencing

For birds and flowers, a distribution map shows where in the country the species can be found, and for birds, trees and butterflies additional artwork highlights important identification features. Packed full of photographs, maps and illustrations, this is the perfect starting point for those who want to learn more about the rich variety of wildlife that can be found in Great Britain.
