Rob Lee was born in West Ham in October 1966. He played for Charlton for nine seasons before a GBP700,000 move to Newcastle in September 1992. More than 280 club appearances and 18 England caps later, he is revered on Tyneside and looks set to win the 1999/2000 club footballer of the season. Carl Liddle is the football correspondent for the Express newspaper. He is a Wearsider born and bred.
